You know, it's almost like I forgot I had a blog! But on this sunny Saturday morning, while sitting on the balcony eating my watermelon and blueberries with yogurt and honey, I suddenly had a distant memory of writing postings and sending them out into the world wide web and then getting comments back from my loyal readers. (None of whom should still be loyal to a delinquent such as myself!) And it's those readers who've inspired me to begin this post. Plus it's a really good excuse not to go for a run.
So you know that after almost a month with no posting I feel obliged to make excuses for my absence, right? Here goes: There is one thing in particular that is keeping me from blogging. It's not the wedding that is fast approaching in 113 days or the extra freelancing I've picked up in order to help pay for the wedding. It is this:
Lost.
That's right. The Fiancé and I started watching Lost on DVD, For whatever reason, we both missed the phenomenon the first time around and are just catching up now. And we're hooked. In a relatively short period of time we've watched the entire first season and almost half of the second season. How have we managed to be so efficient with our viewing, you ask? Easy - we've totally given up actually speaking to one another. We communicate all required life stuff during workday emails and then when we both get home at night, we devote our attention to the television. It's not the right approach for everyone, because you really have to be dedicated, but it works for us.
Are you wondering now if I'm typing while watching? Wait, I already told you I'm on my balcony, so you're probably not. Alas, the Fiancé is out of town and we have a strict policy about not watching without the other person. If we did, then we wouldn't spend any time together! Apparently our policy extends to watching clips on YouTube, because he got so upset with me last night for looking up kissy bits that we haven't seen yet. But I'm sorry! There have been just a few kissy bits and they're making me wait forever for more. And I like the kissy bits!!
The only thing about watching a show a few years after it's aired on TV is that it's so impossible to escape the entertainment media from ruining certain things. For example, when certain characters are in mortal peril, I don't clutch my heart in suspenseful agony. I just turn to the Fiancé and say, "She's not going to die." Kind of takes some of the kick out of it.
So that's my excuse for you. Perhaps I'll find some time to write again soon. Until then, enjoy this:
