You know what's awesome? GETTING MARRIED!
Seriously. Sure there are stressful planning moments and I totally had a nightmare last night about the day, which is my fourth bad dream of the whole process. But everyone around me is so unfailingly generous and is surrounding me with major love. It's incredible.
Yesterday my Best Woman threw me a wonderful shower. Another lovely friend let her beautiful house be used for the occasion and a number of the fantastic people in my life - both girls and gays - showed up for the celebration and spoiled me rotten.
I could get used to this!
Here are a few pics from the event, which was cleverly called "Tammy with a Tea."
Can you believe how gorgeous this cake is!? My dear friend who was by my side all through high school and college created this. And this isn't even her most impressive talent! She has a voice to die for!!
She did use the fondant to enhance my feminine appeal... If only it were that easy (and tasty!) to do so in real life.
More yummy treats! My friend most gifted in the culinary arts (who is also a kick-ass singer and actor) baked this scrumptious cherry pie. Half of it is in my fridge right now. I had leftover cake after lunch, so I'm saving the pie for post-dinner. (Mental note: I should probably go to the gym...)
A few of the lovely ladies in their toilet-paper gowns! This was a very fun game and I got to be the judge. Everyone was lamenting the lack of Tim Gunn though. But they still "made it work!"
Team one: A consultant and two editors. I loved the asymmetrical neckline on this one. Plus they had a unique bustle in the back and a garter.
Team two: An editor, an actor and two teachers. This dress was tea-length, which I enjoyed, and the hairpiece was quite lovely.
Team three (AKA The Winners!): The most eclectic group, with a massage therapist, an opera singer, an interior designer and an editor (not pictured, sadly). I really enjoyed the braiding details around the waist and the wide v-neckline. Also, they used the toilet paper roll to create a headpiece that was very reminiscent of the hats that Philip Treacy used to create for Isabella Blow.
And speaking of hats, here I am wearing all the ribbons and bows from my presents on my head. Don't I look happy!? (I totally had an excitement headache, but I didn't care!)
Now I am surrounded by beautiful gifts that I can't bear to put away. First the Fiancé must come home from his pilgrimage north to visit his mom, so I can show them all to him and then find a home for them.
Spoiled, I tell ya! And loving every minute of it.
