In fact, the movie is staying with me, which I did not expect. Sure, I thought I would like it. I mostly enjoyed the book that inspired it. (A book that also, in some way, inspired this very blog.) And I really enjoyed the recent Vanity Fair feature on Julia Child.
But the movie shifted something inside me. Not a huge shift, but just a little nudge. And that's how I judge movies. So I guess this was a really good one.
Both Julia Child and Julie Powell did something with their lives. Something rather extraordinary. And both women started off as pretty regular folks. In fact, they kind of ended up as regular folks who had done amazing things. And those are the people I should spend more time admiring. And emulating.
Time to do some extraordinary things of my very own. Along with wrestling this wedding planning to the ground and keeping up with my freelancing. But you know, I think I can make this work.
